Infrared Signal Infrared

The actual Signal that the gun sends is not carried by the visually apparent red laser beam.  It is actually sent from a different opening several centimeters up.  Infrared  is a light wave with frequencies ranging from 3 * 10 to the 11 to 3.0 * 10 14 with a wavelength range of 1mm to 700 nm. The reason I mention this is because the signal of the laser tag gun is sent via infrared.   Like any signal it defuses, and hence can spread beyond obstacles.  Different packs are notorious for having different strengths and ranges.  Infrared signals can bounce off of walls, ceilings, other players, lights, and mirrors. Obviously different materials, paints, and color can affect its ability to bounce.   If one can see a packs lights on a wall one can often hit that pack simply by shooting that reflection.  Who says physics can't be fun?
